Born in Sfax in 1962, an industrial hub that he proudly credits for shaping his resilience and ambition, Ghribi first found success in the petroleum sector across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. He went on to establish his family holding, GK Investment Holding Group, in Switzerland before founding GKSD Investment Holding in Italy, where he now serves as President.

Today, GKSD is a diverse group with a far-reaching presence across healthcare, engineering and construction, energy, procurement, and advisory services. Under his stewardship, it has become a pivotal force in the healthcare sector.

As Vice President of Gruppo San Donato (GSD), Italy’s largest private healthcare provider, Ghribi has played a decisive role in creating a pan-European hub of medical excellence, strengthened by the acquisitions of the American Heart of Poland and SCANMED, where he also serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

His first business successes came in the oil and petrochemical sector, where seasoned professionals trusted him and gave him the freedom to prove himself. Determined to honour their faith, he rose quickly, heading a multi-million-dollar holding by the age of 29.

From there, he entered the world of international oil trading, managing complex commodity transactions and working with some of the industry’s most prominent players. He went on to hold senior leadership positions within various petroleum corporations, experiences that deepened his expertise and broadened his horizons.

By the mid-1990s, equipped with global experience and entrepreneurial resolve, Ghribi chose the road less travelled and founded his own family venture, GK Investment Holding Group, in Switzerland.

This bold step laid the foundations for GKSD Investment Holding in Italy, where he now serves as President. His interest in healthcare, combined with his conviction that finance and medicine together can have a transformative impact, led him to assume the role of Vice President of Gruppo San Donato, Italy’s largest private healthcare provider.

Viewing Italy as a gateway to the Mediterranean, he strategically developed initiatives that generated growth while empowering communities—particularly by recognising and promoting the vital contributions of women in sectors such as agriculture and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Through this approach, Ghribi has demonstrated that sustainable success arises from the combination of vision, purpose, and impact, creating value for both business and society.

His international career brought him into contact with world leaders and luminaries from political, industrial, and cultural spheres, and he cultivated close relationships with some of the most influential figures of modern history.

Deeply aware of the challenges posed by conflict and instability, particularly in Africa and the MENA region, he has championed social responsibility in business. By leveraging the privileged position of the private sector, he has fostered collaboration with governments, institutions, educational bodies, and industry experts to develop critical projects in healthcare, education, energy, and infrastructure—turning investment into a force for lasting, positive change.

Africa and the MENA region have always been his top priority, and he has consistently promoted conflict resolution through dialogue and development. He believes that understanding the cultural and historical legacies of nations allows business to foster peace and drive social and economic progress.

Guided by the principle that strong economies and lasting growth are built on cooperation and trust, Kamel founded the European Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM).

This non-profit builds sustainable partnerships with governments, institutions, and industry experts to advance projects in healthcare, education, energy, and infrastructure across the region.

His leadership demonstrated how private healthcare can strengthen public systems in times of crisis.

Post-pandemic, Ghribi has driven innovation by developing next-generation hospitals designed for patient comfort and personalised care, integrating advanced digital technologies, precision diagnostics, minimally invasive surgery, and telemedicine.

Under his guidance, GSD has enhanced outpatient and day hospital services, introduced proactive healthcare programmes, and advanced multidisciplinary treatment pathways.

Through vision and action, Kamel Ghribi has redefined healthcare—making it more resilient, compassionate, and innovation-driven while turning crisis into opportunity.

As President of ECAM and board member of Med-Or, he continues to connect leaders and policymakers to promote sustainable investment and international collaboration.
